Never down for long

A few years ago Andy and I (and Adrian) had a disastrous attempt at climbing the North East Buttress of Ben Nevis in Winter. It was a total and utter shambles. Everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. We even dropped all our gear a few pitches up, and had to start all over again. Suffice to say we eventually realised we were well out of our depth and beat an undignified  retreat. When we got down  there was  a miserable, morose two hour walk back to the youth hostel with no one talking, and everyone privately blaming each other for the utter fiasco. Next morning however, while I was still brooding over the debacle of the day before,  Andy was back to his chipper, chirpy self as if it  had never happened. Full of the joys of life and raring to go. That was Andy, you could never keep him down. His appetite for life (and climbing) was a lesson to us all.
